📋 About This Mod
What is this mod?
Title is a bit misleading, not technically a "fix" but rather a workaround for certain custom races being blocked from petting Scratch for some people, specifically if they're non-humanoid and therefor lacking the necessary Humanoid tag. Entirely removes the tag requirement, so should work for any type of race (Fey, Fiend, Planar, Celestial etc).
Note to modders:
Do NOT implement this into your custom race mod, but rather just make it a dependancy - this way only one source needs to update it when necessary!
If anyone finds instances where the lack of a Humanoid tag might be blocking an interaction, do let me know and I can look into it and possibly update this mod to include a similar fix for it.

Thank you
Super mega thanks for Norbyte for taking the time to fix an edge-case issue I was having with LSlib's conversion (also thanks to KazSuhra for being the middleman in getting this to happen!)
KittHaven for providing me a savefile to test with throughout the process + testing the fix

✨ Key Features
📊 Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- Huge community trust (1,569 endorsements, 298k downloads) — this fix clearly works for a lot of people
- Solves a specific, annoying bug for custom race players
- Simple and focused — no bloat, just the fix
⚠️ Cons
- Only relevant if you use custom races without the Humanoid tag — vanilla players won't notice anything
- No documentation on which custom races are affected or how the fix works
- Last updated March 2024 — may not be compatible with the latest Skyrim version if updates changed the petting mechanic
For Skyrim players who use custom race mods (like elves, beast races, or modded races) and want to pet dogs without issues. Skip if you play vanilla races or don't care about petting dogs.
💡 Beginner Tips
- If you're using a mod manager like Vortex or MO2, just download and install — it will handle the plugin order automatically.
- Make sure your custom race mod is loaded before this fix so the patch applies correctly.
- Test by approaching a dog in-game with your custom race character — if the prompt appears, it's working.
