A lore-friendly and immersive overhaul of Gale's early progression for Baldur's Gate 3.

Why This Mod Exists

During my first playthrough, Gale almost immediately wanted to tell me he had this peculiar condition and had come to trust me enough to tell me about it (but of course all the while omitting crucial details).

For anyone familiar with Anders' betrayal in Dragon Age II, you'll understand when I responded with:

"Witch, I don't even know you!"

My partner had to convince me it was okay to trust Gale, counter to my hard-earned reservations.

Turns out, Gale is the Anders we all deserved, and he has dialogue tucked away to prove it.

That experience inspired the original version of Gale Dialogue Delayed. Since then, the mod has grown into a broader overhaul of Gale's early progression while remaining true to the same philosophy:

Preserve the vanilla experience while allowing Gale's character and story to unfold at a more natural pace.

Overview

This mod delays Gale's early companion progression, allowing his story to unfold over the course of your adventure rather than within the first few hours of gameplay.

Gale's mysterious condition now becomes available after visiting 3 tracked regions with a minimum of 40 Approval. His three magical item requests unlock after 5, 7, and 9 tracked regions respectively.

As a side effect, Gale's unique dialogues following the interactions with Sazza, Arabella, and Mirkon are much more likely to occur for those of us who increase our approval with Gale rapidly.

Gale Dialogue Delayed reworks Gale's early companion progression to create more natural pacing while preserving the vanilla experience.

Rather than relying on Baldur's Gate 3's resettable region counter, the mod introduces a persistent cumulative exploration tracker that provides more reliable progression across varied playstyles while leaving Gale's original dialogue, quest progression, magical item consumption, curse progression, and approval mechanics intact wherever possible.
