Francesca's Journal - Wyll Cinematic Universe Mod 2 (WCU)

Made for Patch 7 - Hotfix 28 (And also Wyllvember 🌟🍂 Happy Wyllvember everyone!!!) Working with Patch 8!

Ok so, a little bit of clarification: the name of the Wyll Cinematic Universe—the ongoing project to expand Wyll's content Aimryax and I are working on—was a bit of a cheeky reference to the MCU, more than anything else. Not all the content in it will be cutscenes, like the Brightest Star romance scene. (Although we do, of course, have more cutscenes planned for the future!!!)

But the goal of the project overall is still to add more to the game for Wyll—including everything from custom accessories, to dialogue edits, to books and letters that add to his narrative—including this one.

Francesca's Journal adds a diary written by Wyll's mother to his inventory, with entries addressed to him, adding onto her character, and connecting her memories to details about Wyll's own life, too.

Some of the details in the book are references to aspects of Wyll's life already mentioned in the game—like Wyll being named after a great uncle, his mother's belief in the magic of the Wilden Oak's acorns, and the entry in Ulder's journal about Wyll diving into the ocean, trying to see a mermaid. And Francesca's name is actually one of those details—her canon name is Francesca, a fact that's brought up in the description of Ulder's longsword. I've included a screenshot of that description in the mod page images.

And some of the details in the journal are headcanons of mine, like her being a botanist, and liking fairy tales. There's unfortunately very little we know about her, but I wanted her to feel like her own character, too. So I tried to add as much as I could for her, based on what we do know about her. I like to imagine Wyll taking after her in a lot of ways, as well, and wrote the journal entries with that in mind.

The journal itself is a little over 1,700 words, and I've included the text in full in the articles section. Just in case it's easier for you to read that way, or if you're not able to install the mod for any reason, but would still like to read it.

The journal will spawn into Wyll's inventory on loading a save, whether it's a new save or not. It works for both Origin playthroughs and if he's a companion, and he should have it regardless of whether he's been recruited already or not! (You can actually try pickpocketing it off him before recruiting him but, please don't.,, 😅 I just wanted it to be something he has from the start of the game...like he's been holding onto it and taking care of it a long time 🌼🌷)

The book will only spawn once, and will only spawn in Wyll's inventory. Y
