Catch Me If You Can (Autumn in New York) - 50's noir clothing

It's November, 2024, and the joint is a writing server, same as any dive, except the liquor's cheap coffee and the fists are words, though the swelling's about the same come morning. Two nerds wander in,  thick as new pennies inside an hour, on account of they got the same rot in their gut: a soft spot for detective noir, and a certain pale, sharp-dressed bloodsucker by the name of Astarion who had no business walking around without a trench coat.

A fic gets written first. Then a 3D render follows.  And these two stick, thick as thieves, clean through a year and a half sharpening their knives together. Then one day they look at the pile of work between 'em and shake on a mod collab.
