Re: Patch 8
2025/04/17 - Patch 8 hasn't made story updates to Karlach's scene on the docks, so you will still need this mod if your player character can't be there on the docks with her. This mod is Patch 8 compatible.
Patch 8 did include this update for Karlach's scene:
- Adjusted some camera shots to better suit shorter races in Karlach's final scene on the pier.
You will likely still get Patch 7 camera angles with my mod if playing a short race, but I haven't had a chance to test this yet.
About
If your character isn't next to Karlach on the docks, she automatically dies even if Wyll became the Blade of Avernus. This can even happen in a multiplayer game if the player chosen for the scene is not available.
This mod updates the docks scene so that the Blade of Avernus will accompany Karlach to the Hells in the player's absence. It is still a work in progress; I want this to be more polished, with better cinematography, but uploading it for anyone who wants to save Karlach no matter what.
This mod works by overriding the scene where Karlach automatically dies on the docks. If you are funneled into this scene for whatever reason (i.e. the character chosen is unavailable because they've flown off on a dragon, run away, killed themselves, etc.), the mod first checks if Wyll is Blade of Avernus. If so, he'll speak up and take her to the Hells. If not, the scene proceeds as normal. If the character chosen for Karlach's scene is alive and available, nothing changes.
At the Epilogue party, you'll be able to talk to Karlach about your time in the Astral (if you flew away on a dragon) or apologize for not being there for her (if you romanced her as Spawn Astarion):

This mod overrides the following files:

It will conflict with any mods that override the same files.

I've included .pak version and loose files. Install only one.

Unzip the file and move its contents into your BG3 Data file:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\
This mod should be safe to install/uninstall mid-playthrough. To uninstall, delete the file.
This mod alters Karlach's final scene in Act 3 so that Wyll, if he chose to become the Blade of Avernus, will join her in the Hells when the player doesn't. It's a small narrative fix for players who want a more fitting ending for these characters. With 395 endorsements and 47,032 downloads, it's a well-received tweak.
