Accentuates the distinctions between the different types of Gnome.
I once had a Filipina tell me that all people from my country were the same. Apparently Larian felt the same way about Gnomes. They're pretty much the same, subraces be darned. That changes, now (changes in addition to normal bonuses):
1. Rock Gnomes get:
Advantage on Investigation checks
Knock and Arcane Lock (improved versions)
2. Deep Gnomes get:
Pass Without Trace
Proficiency with, and 1d4 attack bonus to, Warpicks
An extra 2d4 Force damage with Smokepowder Bombs and Satchels
Sunlight Sensitivity
3. Forest Gnomes get:
Proficiency in Nature
Advantage on Animal Handling checks
Animal Friendship (improved version)
