Beast Summoning Ring

A simple cheat mod that lets you cast two animal summoning spells with less effort.

It can definitely make you a bit overpowered in early levels. But it's fun for solo/duo runs where you can have a bunch of pets to back you up, maybe as a wild shaped druid so your whole gang is just a pack of animals, etc. ^^

You'll need your game updated to Patch 8 for both of the spells to work.

Equip this ring to summon a Ranger's Companion at any level and in any class.

If you have three Sorcery Points, you can also summon Nimbus, the Hound of Ill Omen.

The basic spell requires three Sorcery Points. I didn't change anything about the spell itself - I just bound the existing spell to this ring.

To have at least three Sorcery Points, you must have at least three levels of Sorcerer class. But it can be any type of Sorcerer, and not just Shadow Sorcerer, which is the only one who can summon Nimbus in the vanilla game. And you can summon Nimbus at the earliest already at level 3, and won't have to wait until level 6 where the spell normally becomes available to Shadow Sorcerers.

For example, I multiclassed Shadowheart as 1 lv Cleric, 4 lv Sorcerer, the rest Cleric again. And my gnome Durge is lv 4 Storm Sorcerer.

And I've done a couple of playthroughs as Monk/Wild Magic Sorcerer multiclass, and this ring has allowed me to summon Nimbus at character level 6 just like in vanilla Shadow Sorcerer monoclassing.

To be able to use the spell, you can (multi-)class any way you like as long as you get at least three levels of Sorcerer, and thus the three Sorcery Points that you need for the spell.

Where to find

One Beast Summoning Ring can be found in the Tutorial Chest. And four copies of the Beast Summoning Ring can be found in the Camp Chest, so that your entire party can equip them and summon furry/hairy friends.

After you've cast the spell, you can unequip the ring, and your summoned friend will still be there.

Can your friends level up?

I made this mod only with the base level of the Ranger's Companions in mind.

However, the Ranger's Companions will level up with you if you are classed as any type of Ranger (not only Beast Master). They level up at Ranger level 5/7/8/11.

If you don't have 5 or more levels in Ranger, they will stay on their base level.

For example, Shadowheart has no Ranger levels, only Cleric and Sorcerer, so even though she is level 9, her wolf companion is base level. Astarion is a Gloom Stalker Ranger, and at a Ranger level 9, his boar companion is level 8. If he was multiclassed e.g. 5 lv Ranger, 4 lv Rogue, his boar companion would be level 5, since he would only have 5 Ranger levels.

Similar to Scratch, Nimbus does not level up, whether you are a proper Shadow Sorcerer, or just the minimum 3 level
