Balduran - A simple port and retexture

here’s a VERY BASIC mod that i made as practice a while back and thought i’d upload in case anyone happens to be interested!

it simply retextures elf head 7 and makes it available as presets for human and half-elf, as well as adds the retextured version as a preset for elf. human and half-elf have options with and without facial hair. not a custom face sculpt!

this is just my personal interpretation of balduran. it uses elf head 7, which i'm 99% sure is what the statue's faces are based on. small tweaks were made to the original textures based on my headcanons:

• []changed eyebrow shape

  []gave him more freckles

  []messed with some wrinkles

  if possible, i hope to update this post with my other modding experiments, namely, clothing.

  INSTALLATION

  as of patch 7, third-party mods (like this one) can be installed by:

  • []first, putting the .pak file (NOT info.json) in the mods folder (usually found at C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3\Mods)

    []then, enabling it with the in-game mod manager

    • []using the latest version of BG3MM

      you can install each race individually or the file that includes all of them. DO NOT install the “ALL” file with the individual files.

      KNOWN ISSUES

      the human and half-elf versions have slight eyelash clipping in some scenes (e.g., when the character is really scrunching their eyes shut). i am unsure if this can ever be fixed, but i still mess with things from time to time, so i might figure it out in the future lol.

      there is severe eyelash clipping when selecting certain classes in the character creator. again, i am unsure if this can ever be fixed. however, a couple vanilla heads have this exact issue as well.

      the half-elf version’s portrait does not have quite the same expression as vanilla half-elf heads. i have tried multiple solutions but nothing seems to fix this without creating other, bigger issues. after testing with various cutscenes, however, this does not appear to have a significant effect on animations.
