📋 About This Mod
Welcome to this guide. I hope it helps make the game less harsh on the eyes, as the anti-aliasing implementation in this game is quite poorA SHOWCASE VIDEO WITH TAA VS. DLAA IS IN THE VIDEO SECTION
Step 1: Modifying the engine.ini
Attention: This tweak may interfere with performance mods from other users or mod makers.
Now, let's open the engine.ini file located at %localappdata%\Alabama\Saved\Config\Windows Search for the following two lines, but only up to the =
r. Shadow. Virtual. ResolutionLodBiasDirectional=-2
r. Tonemapper. Sharpen=0. 55
-
[]If these lines are not found, you have no conflicts in your engine.ini
for this tweak.[
]If found, you must adjust the numbers. The first line reduces ghosting from anti-aliasing, while the second line is a sharpening filter. I recommend setting the sharpening filter to 0. 5 or 1. 0 maximum, as values above 1. 0 may introduce visual artifacts.
section does not exist, create it like this:
r. Shadow. Virtual. ResolutionLodBiasDirectional=-2
r. Tonemapper. Sharpen=0. 55
Step 2: Updating NVIDIA DLSS and Forcing DLAA
Attention: This tweak disables the performance increase from DLSS because we are forcing DLAA via DLSS tweaks.
This step significantly improves anti-aliasing at the cost of only 4-5 FPS with a 2080 Ti. However, performance may vary; in the worst case, it might cost up to 10 FPS. The visual improvement is substantial, making it a worthwhile trade-off.
Let's get started:
-
[]Download the updated DLSS files from the Nexus download section. Open your game folder, then drag and drop the folder to replace the files. You have now updated DLSS.
[
]To force DLAA via DLSS tweaks, download the DLSS Tweaks ini file from the Nexus download section. Drag and drop the folder into your game folder. Then, download the latest version of DLSS Tweaks from this link: DLSS Tweaks Mod.[]Open the following folders in your game directory: Alabama > Binaries > Win64
[]Extract the dlsstweaks zip file you downloaded.
[]You will see a file called dxgi.dll. Drag this file into the Win64 folder.
[]If you have ReShade installed, you will see a similarly named file in the Win64 folder. To avoid conflicts:
[]Rename the dxgi.dll file from the dlsstweaks folder to winmm.dll.
[]Place the renamed winmm.dll file into the Win64 folder.
Now, you can open the game and ensure that DLSS is enabled on the quality preset.
Enjoy the game now with less blur and more sharpness. However, if you notice a significant performance hit on your hardware, you need to uninstall DLAA. Follow these steps:
-
[]Remove the dlsstweaks.ini file from the Win64 folder.
[
]If you do not have ReShade installed, remove the dxgi.dll file. If ReShade is installed, delete the winmm.dll file instead. - Now, DLSS should work as intended without forcing DLAA via the tweak.
Final Words: I hope this guide is clear and easy to understand. English is not my first language, so it was a bit challenging to write, but I hope it helps others!
