Jukebox

Type a song name, press Enter, keep driving. No alt-tabbing, no second screen, no browser stealing focus.

Jukebox is a CSP Lua app. It uses yt-dlp to fetch the audio and plays it through CSP's built-in media player, so there is no local server, no browser and no Python involved - just the app folder.

- Search and play from the car. Type in the app, hit Enter, it starts playing.

• Sensible results. The search leans on the YouTube Music catalogue first, so you
• get actual releases instead of screen-recorded rips, reaction videos and karaoke
• versions. Official sources are marked with a circle.

• Queue. Every search fills a queue of 8; tap any entry to jump to it. When a track
• ends the next one starts, so it doubles as continuous background music.

• Favourites. Star a track and it is kept; tap a favourite to play the whole list
• from there.

• Playlists. Paste a YouTube or YouTube Music playlist link into the search box and
• the list is added to your favourites and starts playing. How many tracks to take
• is a setting (20 by default), so an auto-generated mix - which never ends - cannot
• flood your favourites. One button undoes the last import.

• Volume that behaves. The slider follows an audio taper, so the quiet end is
• fine-grained instead of jumping from silent to loud in two steps.

• Hotkeys. Volume up/down, play/pause and next track can be bound to any key or
• wheel button, and they work with the app window closed.

REQUIREMENTS

• Assetto Corsa with Custom Shaders Patch (Lua apps enabled)
• Windows 8 or newer (playback uses Microsoft Media Foundation)
• An internet connection

Extract the Jukebox folder into assettocorsa\apps\lua\ so you end up with assettocorsa\apps\lua\Jukebox\jukeboxx.lua, then enable Jukebox in the in-game app bar. yt-dlp.exe is included; delete it if you would rather use your own copy on PATH.

Nothing is bound by default, on purpose. Assetto Corsa has hidden hardcoded keys that do not appear anywhere in the control settings (numpad +/- change force feedback gain, PgUp/PgDn change exposure), so a default binding would silently fight with them.

Open Settings in the app and assign the keys you want. They also show up in Content Manager under Settings > Controls > Patch.

If you do bind numpad +/-, switch on "Lock FFB gain": it pins the force feedback gain so AC's hidden adjustment cannot drift it. "Hide FFB messages" suppresses the on-screen popups that come with it.

• Tracks are downloaded to a temp folder before playing rather than streamed. Some
• uploads make Media Foundation jump straight to the end of a stream, and a finished
• local file always plays. The cache keeps the last 30 tracks, so a repeat is instant.

• Playback goes through FMOD, so it follows the audio device Assetto Corsa uses and
• pauses when the game pauses.

• YouTube Music's "Liked songs" cannot be imported: reading it needs your browser
• cookies, and Chrome 127 and newer encrypt those in a way yt-dlp cannot decrypt.
• Make the playlist you want public or unlisted and paste its link instead - no
• login involved.

• If searches suddenly stop working, replace yt-dlp.exe with the latest build from
• the yt-dlp releases page. YouTube changes break older versions from time to time.
