CHR Photorealistic mod

DESCRIPTION

This is my photorealistic ReShade preset for AC Unity. Using fast global illumination, ambient occlusion, sharpening, FXAA, new colors and black levels, with a minimal performance hit.

TROUBLESHOOTING

There are three anti-aliasing options in-game: FXAA and the more complex MSAA and TAA. FXAA (also no-AA) while less demanding (higher fps) is giving flickers on shadows and surfaces with my Radeon GPU. MSAA and TAA is much more demanding but visually smoother. These instructions are for FXAA, if you are using MSAA or TAA you must follow these PLUS one more to make it work.

I found out that the NVIDIA Soft Shadows option gives the flickering when using FXAA on my RX 6800 XT so I disabled it and now it works smoothly using FXAA with increased FPS. I recommend using FXAA if you have a low-spec PC because of much better performance and easier use of ReShade. With FXAA you dont need to manually apply depth buffers every time you launch the game. However TAA is much better looking if you can afford the fps hit.

Update 2: I uploaded a new version for those who use ray tracing mod (RTGI).

INSTALLATION

1. Download the latest ReShade from reshade.me

2. Install all the shaders except for the last two (VR and legacy effects).

3. After installing ReShade extract my downloaded files and copy them to AC Unity install folder, overwrite files if asked.

4. Launch ACU.

5. When your game is loaded press the "Home" button to bring up ReShade.

6. You can skip the tutorial.

7. Click in the upper left corner find the "CHR_NEW.ini" file and click Select.

8. If the characters are very dark you must adjust the depth buffer.

9. To do this, click on "Edit global preprocessor definitions" button located below the effects.

11. Change the "RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED" from 0 to 1 and just click somewhere else.

12. Congrats, everything is done. Press the Home button again to exit ReShade and enjoy playing.

If you are using MSAA or TAA

13. Click on the Add-ons button and tick the line which ends with "6 vertices".

REMEMBER: USING MSAA OR TAA YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU LAUNCH THE GAME OR ALT+TAB OR ELSE IT WILL BE BLURRY.
