📋 About This Mod
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Profanity Filter
Censors English profanity in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's on-screen text and silences the same words in the matching English voice-over. The story, performances, and game play are untouched. Only the flagged words change.
Game files in this download
None. Neither download ships any files from Black Flag. Two small apps (one per platform) re-create the edits on your own installed copy, and nothing from the game is bundled. You must own the game on Steam.
Who is this for?
-
[]Streamers and content creators: capture footage without bleeping audio or cutting around a very salty pirate crew, on PC or Steam Deck.[/]
[]Playing around family: kids in the next room, parents visiting, partner working nearby, when headphones aren't practical.[/]
[]Personal preference: some people just don't enjoy strong language in their downtime. This is an optional content-preference toggle, not a statement about how the game should be played.[/]
The rest of the game (Edward Kenway's story, the open sea, the Caribbean) is untouched. Only the flagged words change.
What this mod does
-
[]Choose what gets censored: at install time you pick any mix of four categories: Strong (the F-word and C-word families), Medium (the S-word and anatomical terms), Mild (the A-word family and light insults), and Religious Oaths (blasphemy / religious swearing used as expletives). Filter everything, or just the strongest language: your call. Both Windows and Steam Deck installers offer the identical four categories.[/]
[]Text: up to 474 censors across 425 lines of base-game English text: subtitles and UI labels. Same-length asterisks replace flagged words (e.g. the pirate chant "Bloody ***** Pirates!").[/]
[]Audio: up to 519 English voice lines silenced: 421 in the base game plus 98 in the Freedom Cry DLC. Only the profane word is muted; the rest of each line plays back normally.[/]
[]Context-aware: reverent religious references (a prayer, a blessing for the departed) are left alone; only blasphemous or expletive uses are censored. The in-game reproductions of Poor Richard's Almanack keep their period wording.[/]
[]English only: other locales are left as-is.[/]
Freedom Cry DLC: the DLC's voice-over is filtered (its 98 lines are included above), on both Windows and Steam Deck. Its subtitle text is NOT filtered on either platform (see "What's covered, what isn't" below).
