Collapsible Villager Groups

How it works

Open the settlement menu, go to the villager list and pick a sort: the list splits into groups, each with its own heading.

• []Workplace and home group villagers by the building they are assigned to, with No workplace and No home for the rest.[/]

  []Name groups them by the first letter, skills by the villager's tier.[/]

  []Happiness uses 25% ranges; suffering keeps the villagers who suffer apart from the ones who do not.[/]

  []Default sorting keeps the flat list you already know.[/]

  Click a heading to collapse its villagers, click it again to bring them back. The count stays in the heading, so you can see how many are hidden. Typing in the search box opens the groups that hold a match and gives your collapsed ones back when you clear it.

  Installation

  Install BepInEx and ASKA Mod Core first (both are listed under Requirements), then install this mod with Vortex, or unpack the archive into the ASKA folder so the files land in BepInEx/plugins/AskaVillagerGroups/.

  Linux / Steam Deck: add this to ASKA's launch options in Steam (Windows doesn't need it):

  WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%

  In the game's Settings, open the Mods tab and use Enabled to turn grouping on or off, then Apply: the list goes back to the one the game draws, no restart needed. The setting is stored in BepInEx/config/DED2GAME. AskaVillagerGroups.cfg.

  Good to know

  • []Only the villager list changes. Worker assignment and every other list stay as they are, and the mod never touches villagers, buildings or your save.[/]

    []Collapsed groups last while you play and are forgotten when you start another world; they are not written into the save.[/]

    []While a search is running the headings stay open and cannot be clicked. Clear the search to use them again.[/]

    []The headings speak the game's language; names of villagers and buildings come from the game.[/]

    []Tested in single player with 54 villagers. Co-op and gamepad navigation have not been tested yet.[/]

    AI was used to write the code quickly. I designed the mod, thought through how it should behave and put real care into it, so this is not a mod made by AI alone: the AI was the tool that carried out the work and took the routine off my hands.
