Fairer competitors for a calmer Anno 1800 campaign.

Overview

Gentle AI is a single gameplay module that makes expanding AI competitors less rushed, less punitive, and easier to read. It preserves their ability to build and compete while giving the player more room to establish an economy.

What Changes

• []Fair Expansion: AI waits 120 in-game minutes before attempting its second island. The first-island delay is 30 in-game minutes.[/]

  []Island Permission: settlement permission is enabled. After a rejection, an AI waits one in-game hour before it can ask again.[/]

  []Calm Fleets: direct AI peace and war fleet caps are reduced to about 75% of vanilla, including defined air-fleet caps.[/]

  []Less “cheated” culture: automatic culture-item injection is limited to once per in-game hour.[/]

  []AI construction intervals are roughly four times longer and catch-up acceleration is disabled.[/]

  []AI ship construction takes twice as long.[/]

  []AI cannot enter later regions before a human player.[/]

  []AI island-share takeovers, military island takeovers, and purchases of other shares are disabled.[/]

  []Most reputation- and event-based AI diplomatic actions, including AI-initiated wars, are suppressed. Limited recovery ceasefire offers remain available after an AI loses a war.[/]

  This affects the expanding AI competitors and their shared difficulty profiles. Pirates and neutral traders are excluded.

  Installation

  1. Install the current Anno 1800 Mod Loader.

  2. Extract Gentle-AI-0. 2. 0-Main.zip.

  3. Copy the Gentle AI folder into the game's mods folder.

  4. Start a new single-player sandbox save for settlement and fleet behavior.

  Compatibility & Technical Info

  Do not combine this with another mod that edits AI construction, settlement, diplomacy, region-entry rules, or fleet limits unless you understand the load order. It was built against game build 18. 4. 1412158. 165275. The XML patch has passed static validation; in-game behavior still requires play testing.

  Uninstallation

  Remove the Gentle AI folder from the game's mods folder. Avoid changing AI mods during an active save; use a new save for the cleanest result.
