📋 About This Mod
Introduces new buildings into the game that include a realistic fertilizer production chain.
Realistic Compost and Fertilizer Management
A new, multi-stage production cycle for organic fertilizer, liquid manure, and charcoal humus—historically inspired and linked to your city's population growth.
What does this mod do?
This mod not only adds new buildings starting at the worker level and slightly improves brick production,
but also increases the population and introduces a complete, tiered economic chain around composting and soil improvement—from a simple collection pit to a professional composting plant with charcoal enrichment. Instead of a single building, an entire system of collection, processing, and distribution facilities is created that grows with your population.
The production chain at a glance:
Collection bins for animal manure, plant residues, and charcoal – the raw material base
Compost building (basic and barrel versions) – processes the raw materials into humus
Liquid manure production – a fermentation product with a realistic maturation time
Wooden barrel and process water production – supporting infrastructure
Rainwater barrel building – collects rainwater and reduces the risk of fire at nearby charcoal kilns
Professional compost bin & charcoal humus – the upgrade level for experienced cities, combining compost with charcoal to significantly increase yield
All buildings are automatically unlocked once your city reaches the required population – starting with workers, then artisans, and finally engineers and investors. The advanced buildings (charcoal humus, professional compost bin) require a certain number of investors before they even become visible – the idea behind this is that only wealthy investors will finance the more complex agricultural research that develops the basic compost into the professional version.
Professional compost bin & charcoal humus – the upgrade level for experienced cities, combining compost with charcoal to significantly increase yield. Historical Background
The game mechanics are based on real processes of the 19th century: the construction and monitoring of charcoal kilns, the dual use of charcoal particles as sealing material, and the agricultural practices of the time (organic fertilization, the Terra Preta principle for soil improvement with biochar). Where game balance requires it, real-world time periods and quantities have been deliberately compressed.
