Soviet Medium tank produced in the second world war. As one of the most mass produced tanks in the Soviet Union, the tank was designed as an end-all-be-all counter to the German Panzer 3's and 4's with its upgraded 76mm long gun from the original 1939 model, and also had more viewports with ballistic glass to increase crew visibility. Other than these things the design did not change much from the original 1939 model. However, the quality of these tanks varied depending on what factory they were produced at, suffering from multitudes of issues, some being that it was still extremely hard to see out of despite the viewport improvements, it was extremely cramped in the whole tank making it harder to reload and access supplies within the tank, the tank could only travel about 50 miles (80km) on road before its engine would break down, its armor plating would crack and fall off after coming under fire from even the more small 37mm AT rounds, It usually lacked AP rounds and field repair equipment (which is less the tank and more logistical but this would lead to the infamous desperate Soviet tank ramming tactics), the sights were often not properly water sealed to protect from fog and rain which would render the sights basically useless after water damage, the gearbox was to stiff and the tank could almost never be put into 4th or 5th gear without hitting it into place with a hammer (no that is not a myth) and legitimately too many others to list (do your own research its really interesting). This meant that these tanks would never be able to operate at their optimal or even in most cases sub-optimal performance on and off the field of combat and were extremely uncomfortable for crews to operate. A positives of the tank would be the gun sights themselves which were actually pretty good for targeting if they weren't cracked or opaque from moister and the commander hatch design for improved turnout protection. The tank itself is also not in any way a bad design but in prod
