Battle of Normandy, 1944 A

The downfall of Hitler's thousand year Reich started in earnest on June 6th, 1944 - just 11 years after it had been established. In the early hours of June the 6th, Allied Airborne Divisions began to drop behind German lines, all along the Normandy coast. Their tasks varied, from securing bridges to securing German gun batteries and vital cross-road settlements. Opposing them were a motley collection of second-rate German units. The Wehrmacht of 1939-42 was no more, the Wehrmacht of 1944 was a shadow of its former glory. Poorly trained, ill-equipped and often relying on the too-old and too-young to fill the ranks, the battle was a forgone conclusion. Which is why as Hauptmann of the regional defence forces of the Reich, your mission is a difficult one.
