First Person Standalone

Big thanks to Rummys for creating the original code that made this even possible and for generally being a nice person!

The title is self explanatory tbh, but this is a mod to change your third person shooter into a first person shooter with literally nothing else.

That's all this mod does.

The original mod/code was created by Rummys for his AFE plus mod which is super neat and you should check it out, but it personally included some changes that changed up the weapon loadouts for character's with pistol slots and I guess playing AFE on console for so long gave me Stockholm syndrome because I couldn't get into it. So since I just installed the game on steam, I went and learnt how to use Fmodel for 2 hours until I could butcher his code to get what I wanted. While I was rooting around in its guts, I found the code for the first person part and isolated it for all the folks who wanted it. Full credit and my appreciation to Rummys since this is literally just the result of me deleting 99% of his mod.

Since this is a super barebones script, it should have full compatibility with any other mod that doesn't mess with the camera on here, including Rummys's AFE plus mod version that comes without the fps if you're a freak and want to make modding hard on yourself.

Disclaimer:

Given that you're now locked in first person, the game can be somewhat harder as your awareness is now limited, if that's the case, try some other mods that tweak spawn rates. Also can make the game scarier since jumpscares actually scare you now and immersion is enhanced, if you want to improve that feeling, I'd recommend mods that reduce spawns while making elites spawn more, or general difficulty mods to transform the game into less of a horde shooter, and of course, Reshade presets. IIRC, if you want to make elites spawn more, Aliens Fireteam Enhanced has challenge cards that do just that.

Installation:

Drop the pak in the camera code file and an fov of your choice into your ~mods folder, if you don't have a ~mods folder then you gotta create one.

Directory looks something like the following:

(whatever drive your game is installed):\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Aliens Fireteam Elite\Endeavor\Content\Paks\~mods

Known issues:

The camera for phalanx (shield guy I think that's his name?) is broken, likely because in Rummys's original mod, AFE Plus, the character is reworked and the code was likely structured around that, since I don't play him and the character is kinda bad, I don't have any motivation to fix him, but if enough people ask I'll see what I can do. If I try something like that it would might not be very fun/good since the shield glass isn't reallt meant for that and might have major clipping, so I'd probably make the code exclude him specifically or something.

Using cover is very buggy, though given that you're in first person, why would you even use this anymore? Cover can detach the camera from your head, if this happens try rolling and using the switch shoulders camera function, basically try whatever else messes with your camera and it should go back to normal.

General clipping can't be fixed, though, what'd you expect, game wasn't made for this.
