📋 About This Mod
A clean-language patch for Alien: Isolation that censors English profanity in subtitles and voiced dialogue.
Alien: Isolation Profanity Filter
Silences spoken English profanity in Alien: Isolation's voice-over and censors it in subtitles, mission logs, terminal text, and UI strings. The story, the performances, the tension, and the gameplay are untouched.
Who is this for?
-
[]Streamers and content creators — capture footage for Twitch / YouTube / shorts without bleeping audio or cutting around strong language.[/]
[]Playing around family — kids in the next room, parents visiting, partner working nearby — when headphones aren't practical and the room shouldn't hear every line.[/]
[]Personal preference — some people just don't enjoy strong language in their downtime. This mod is an optional content-preference toggle, not a statement about how the game should be played.[/]
The rest of the game — story, voice acting, atmosphere, and gameplay — is untouched. Only the flagged words change.
What this mod does
-
[]Audio: 815 English voice clips — only the profane word is silenced; the rest of the line, the performance, and the subtitle stay intact. Voice files are re-encoded to the game's original Wwise V62 Vorbis format and the same clip length, so timing is preserved.[/]
[]Text: 1,205 censors across 48 English . TXT files — subtitles, mission briefing logs, readable terminal text, and UI strings. Same-length asterisks replace flagged words.[/]
[]English only — non-English text and audio are left as-is.[/]
[]Single-player only — your saves are unaffected.[/]
[]Note: Cutscene FMV audio is not in scope for this release.[/]
How the installer works
This download ships no modified game files. You download one small .exe; it re-creates the edits on your own installed copy. The installer carries only the edit recipe (which words to mask, and the exact time windows in each voice clip) plus a few small open-source tools. Nothing from Alien: Isolation is bundled in the download.
Sample of what changes
Before: audio line with the F-word
After: "We're going to * die here, aren't we?" (only "" is silent)
Before: terminal text with the S-word
After: "We are so , it's not even funny."
Before: mission log with a slur
After: "The stupid s left us behind."

]Download and run alien-isolation-profanity-filter.exe.[/][
]First run only: Windows may show a SmartScreen prompt because the app isn't code-signed — click "More info" → "Run anyway". It's an unsigned indie tool; see "Is it safe?" below.[/][
]The installer auto-detects your Steam or GOG install. If it can't, click Browse… and select your Alien: Isolation folder (the one containing AlienIsolation.exe or AI.exe).[/][
]Click Apply filter. Your original files are backed up automatically before any change is made. Both the text censoring and the audio fix apply in well under a minute — the audio fix is a small pre-computed binary patch, not a live re-encode.[/][
]Launch Alien: Isolation through Steam or GOG Galaxy as normal.[/]Tested against: Alien: Isolation on Steam (appid 214490) and GOG, Wwise bank version 88 (2014.x CATHODE runtime). The installer verifies your files before changing anything and stops safely on an unrecognized build.
