Alien Isolation DLAA

Overview

The main goal is to improve the game's temporal image stability. DLAA can significantly reduce shimmering, crawling edges and other distracting instability that becomes especially noticeable while moving. The mod includes an in-game configuration menu where you can switch between different DLAA presets, adjust sharpness, toggle DLAA on/off and configure your hotkeys.

  Requirements

    []Anti-Aliasing must be set to SMAA T2x in the game's graphics settings[/]

    Important – Please Read

    This is not a native or perfect DLAA implementation.

    Alien: Isolation was never designed with NVIDIA DLAA in mind. This mod adapts the game's existing temporal rendering data to make DLAA possible. The result is a trade-off. DLAA can provide a noticeably more stable image in motion and greatly reduce shimmering, but some edges, textures and fine details can appear softer or show temporal smearing compared to playing with DLAA disabled. How noticeable this is depends on the scene and the selected DLAA preset. The included sharpness control can compensate for some of the overall softness, but it cannot completely remove artifacts caused by temporal reconstruction.

    I recommend trying the mod yourself and using F8 to quickly compare DLAA ON and OFF while playing.

    F7 — Open/close configuration menu

    F8 — Toggle DLAA on/off

    Both hotkeys can be changed from the in-game menu.

    DLAA Presets

    The mod allows you to choose between four NVIDIA DLAA render presets:

    • []J — Alternative preset that may reduce ghosting in some situations but can introduce more flickering[/]

      []K — Default and recommended preset for DLAA[/]

      []L — Alternative preset with different temporal characteristics[/]

      []M — Alternative preset with different temporal characteristics[/]

      There isn't necessarily one preset that will look best in every scene, so I've made all four available.

      Recommended Settings

      For the default experience:

      Anti-Aliasing: SMAA T2x

      DLAA Preset: K

      Sharpness: 0. 35

      You can adjust the preset and sharpness directly from the in-game menu.

      Compatibility

      - Alias Isolation - Not compatible!

      - RenoDX - Compatible but requires disabling TAA (Alias Isolation)
