📋 About This Mod
# Blueprint Update
Update an existing blueprint with new buildings, in game, and keep it as the same blueprint. Its Steam Workshop item
updates instead of you having to upload a new one and lose your subscribers.
## What it does
Normally, Edit on a blueprint only lets you change its name, description, colour and icon. The buildings inside are
fixed, so the only way to change them is to save a brand-new blueprint, which is a brand-new Workshop item.
With this mod, clicking Edit on one of your own blueprints asks first:
- Replace - the menu closes and you go straight into blueprint select mode. Select the buildings, confirm, and
save as blueprint. The save screen comes up headed Update "your blueprint" with its name, description, colour and
icon already filled in. Confirm, and the blueprint now holds the new buildings and a new preview picture. It is
still the same blueprint, in the same place in your list.
- Keep - the game's normal edit screen, exactly as before.
## Updating a Workshop blueprint
1. Edit -> Replace, select the new buildings, confirm the save.
2. Select the blueprint in your list and press Upload to Workshop again.
The existing Workshop item is updated. Steam can take a few minutes before subscribers get the new version.
## Requirements
- UE4SS, experimental build, set up for Alchemy Factory (the game needs UE4SS's custom signature files and
`MajorVersion = 5` / `MinorVersion = 7` in `UE4SS-settings.ini`). Built and tested on UE4SS
v3. 0. 1-1152 (experimental-latest). The stable 3. 0. 1 release is too old: it does not have the feature this mod uses
to take over the Edit button.
Nothing else. No other mods are needed.
1. Install UE4SS for Alchemy Factory and check the game starts with it.
2. Extract the zip into
`...\steamapps\common\Alchemy Factory\AlchemyFactory\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\`
so that you end up with `Mods\BlueprintUpdate\Scripts\main.lua` and `Mods\BlueprintUpdate\enabled.txt`.
3. Start the game.
To uninstall, delete the `BlueprintUpdate` folder.
## Good to know
- Each time a blueprint is replaced, the version it had before is kept next to it as `<blueprint id>.png.bak` in
`%LOCALAPPDATA%\AlchemyFactory\Saved\Blueprints`. Only the most recent one is kept. To go back, delete the `.png`
and rename the `.bak` to `.png`.
- Blueprints you are subscribed to from the Workshop are left alone.
- The mod only changes what the Edit button does. It does not touch saves, and it changes nothing about how the game
- Built for the game version current in October 2026. A game update that changes the blueprint screens may break it;
if Edit stops working, remove the mod and the game is back to normal.
