MiG-29A - I-95 -

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trilogy - the OG one, not the trashy reboots we got from 2019 to 2023 - is one of the most legendary video game sagas of all time. Call of Duty 4 marked a pivotal before and after moment in gaming history by allowing us to fully immerse into a realistic, gritty and complex world with post-Cold War and post-9/11 themes, with great and fun gameplay and memorable characters that have become engraved in our hearts and minds. This was followed of course by 2009's Modern Warfare 2, which rewrote the rules on how to write an epic FPS, and finally 2011's Modern Warfare 3, concluding the series and the stories of these characters set in motion all the way back in 2007. It was an amazing time for being a gamer and it certainly inspired many young gamers at the time to try their hand at joining the likes of the 75th Ranger Regiment and the Special Air Service.

Across all these games, the MiG-29 is heavily featured as the enemy fighter aircraft of choice by two of the main enemy factions - Ultranationalist Russia and Khaled al-Asad's OPFOR - remaining mostly the same no matter the game and the scenario is featured on. As such, by using no-clip in MW2's most iconic moments - such as the defense of that one Burger Town in Virginia - you can get to see that the MiGs flown by the Russians in that mission are, actually, OPFOR-marked ones, complete with their insignia and featuring zero red stars. Whether this was an oversight by Infinity Ward or whether there was any ulterior motive behind it is unclear, but the result of this critical creative decision is the present skin, which was based on models and textures extracted from MW2, as well as screenshots of it found online.

Slots 1 and 4-6 include the standard lore-friendly blank and Trigger patterns featuring relatively standard insignia on the two-tone brown camouflage, while Slot 9 replaces the UPEO skin with a fully-featured, fully-marked OPFOR skin, complete with the tail art, the skull killmarks on the left side of nose, and the unique, incorrectly-designed MiG logo that is famously reversed, and which was recreated by Hurk as faithfully as possible to this peculiar version made by Infinity Ward. The wings and the right side of the nose include the OPFOR lightning roundels, and on the tail and engine intakes, you can find the double arrow symbol employed by the OPFOR. With this MiG-29A, you can role-play as the generic enemy pilot you always dreamed to be!
