A-10C - GDI -

It's no secret that C&C Tiberian Dawn was a revolutionary entry into the real-time strategy (RTS) genre back when it launched way back in the 1990s. A compelling narrative in futuristic sci-fi warfare met what were then familiar and current military technologies. One such weapon was the A-10 Thunderbolt II, which in the GDI campaign manifested as a support power you could call once all the starting Nod SAM sites were destroyed. Highly effective against light armor, weak buildings and especially infantry, GDI A-10 squadrons could wreak havok on Nod's battle lines with their napalm bombs. And now, this skin offers you the opportunity to play as one of them!

This paint scheme is an original interpretation of the GDI A-10 plane as seen in Tiberian Dawn, with additions that make it feel more realistic and unique. Back in Tiberian Dawn's timeline, GDI wasn't the supranational world power that it would grow to be by the time Tiberian Sun and Tiberium Wars would take place. Instead, it was a collective security initiative born from the United Nations Global Defense Act (UNGDA), to which UN nations contributed equipment, personnel, and leading officers. As such, this A-10 features hybrid GDI and USAF markings, which base it at Langley AFB. I know that IRL Langley is not host to any A-10 squadron, but along with Andrews AFB, it's the only known real-life air base that belongs to GDI in the Tiberium universe, so I decided to employ it as a reference to its future role in Tiberium Wars.

To install, unzip the . 7z and place the .paks in the game directory. Vortex users can drag the . 7z into the mod manager.
